About A.S.

You’re probably wondering what the heck an “Accidental” Seamstress is and what you’ve come across here…  Simply put, I don’t sew.

I know how to sew…  In fact, I’m employed full-time as a Janome and Baby Lock sewing specialist; however, I never had a desire to sew on my own time. Sewing was my job and nothing more.

Until I went broke. BIG time.

An out-of-pocket surgery expense, a wedding, a career change by my husband, and some other financial crises left us in sad shape.  In  2012 we hit rock bottom… Like, scrambled-eggs-for-dinner rock bottom.

I was desperately researching ways to save money and, in that process, I stumbled across DIY blogs. I was introduced to a whole new world; a world that had been thriving in popularity right under my nose, unbeknownst to me until I went looking for it. It was the world of thrifting, upcylcing and refashioning. It inspired me to utilize my lack of sewing skills by buying clothes and other items cheap and refashioning them to my liking.

An “Accidental Seamstress” was born.

I was accidentally roped into being a cheapskate seamstress, but it would seem that it’s in my destiny to keep the frugality of this blog going, as I am completely (and happily) addicted to the refashion scene!

This blog started as a way for me to document my financial survival… ya know, in a fun, upbeat way… but it’s grown into something I truly enjoy doing. I hope you’ll stick around and share the experience with me! 🙂

    1. Wow! That is awesome! 🙂 And definitely one of the best compliments I’ve received about my modest little blog. Thank you! 🙂 I’ll check out the details.

    1. Thanks for the nomination! Your blog is super cute and you have really awesome ideas. I was out of town when you posted this and then I got the stomach flu…by the time I remembered you nominated me it was kind of too late. I wasn’t ignoring you 🙂 I appreciate the nomination!
