As most of you know, I’ve lost a considerable amount of weight. It comes up frequently in my blog posts as clothing/fashion directly relate to body image and self-esteem. I’ve shared my experience with Excess Skin removal surgeries and I’ve been featured on several online publications.
I don’t say this to “name drop” or brag… but quite the contrary! I speak/write of my weight loss often 1.) to be accountable to myself and never forget where I’ve been and 2.) to be completely honest about the struggle of the journey.
My struggle with weight has been chronic since age 8.
And though I’ve maintained my loss since 2010… I still struggle. I still fluctuate.
Right now, as it’s painfully obvious in many of my recent “Before” shots, I’ve had a bit of a setback.
I’ve gained 15lbs since my story went viral in 2015.
The good news is I always manage to get back on track! 🙂
I follow several fitness blogs because even I need inspiration on a daily basis. My favorite of these is Brooke: Not on a Diet. I’ve been following her ever since she was approached by Shape magazine for a spread about her 172lbs WL journey. When she sent in her “After” photo posing in a bikini and showing off her excess skin like a boss, the editor asked her to put on a shirt… She refused. And I just respect the crap out of her for doing that!
Brooke is hosting a “kickstart” DietBet weight loss challenge with a friendly competitive edge.
You pay $25 to join. That money goes in to the pot and if you meet your goal of losing 4% of your body weight you get a piece of the pot. If other players reach their goals than you’ll obviously be splitting it with them.
I don’t know about you, but money motivates me. 4% of my body weight is only 5lbs. If I can’t lose 5lbs in 4 weeks than, well, I suck. Plain and simple 🙂
So here’s how I look at it: I can wallow in my suckiness for this 15lb setback… or I can freakin’ crush it with Brooke’s little contest!
I submitted my weight this morning and it’s GO Time!
