When I picked this up for .99 cents I had NO idea what I wanted to do with it..
It fit pretty well as-is minus my gynormous outer thigh situation… And I love the sleeves! I’ve done many a “cold-shoulder”effect lately… but I despise the elastic at the wrist.
I thought, “Let me just cut off the things that annoy me and go from there…”
Usually I like to finish all my raw edges but this material does NOT fray in the slightest so I thought… why bother? So I left it.
And I love it!
I haven’t done a No Sew in a long time… they kind of scare me. But this one was a cinch and it was kind of accidental. Some times the less you plan, the better the outcome.
When it’s raining out, you take indoor photos 🙂
When it let up I headed outside.
Later that afternoon I headed to the Bux to see my college friend Christina.
We lived 2 doors down from each other in our freshman dorm and we were pretty good friends. We ate pizza like there was no tomorrow! In fact, she jokingly blamed me for her freshman weight gain of 25lbs. She ended up transferring to ISU for our sophomore year but I definitely remember really liking her and being sad when she didn’t show up in the dorms the following fall.
Fast forward 16 years and we’re going to church together. We’re both on the worship team, and one night we were all hanging out, talking, and she mentioned she went to Olivet her freshman year. I told her I went to Olivet and we got to talking and low and behold she was THE Christina I binged ate pizza with!
It’s funny, but when I look at her now I see the young freshman I went to school with and it’s like, Wow. I feel kind of stupid for not figuring it out earlier 🙂
We reminisced for about 3 hours! She brought her year book (I couldn’t find mine). I brought my college scrapbook. And it’s like no time passed at all…
I had SO much fun in college. It was the best 4 years of my life. I just can’t say enough good things about ONU and my experience there. I wish Christina could’ve had the same experience.
Our school colors at Olivet were purple and gold so this No Sew refashion was all the more befitting for a stroll down memory lane.
It’s difficult to say what the best part of this refashion is: the college reunion bit, or the fact that all I needed was a sharp pair of scissors.
Happy No Sewing!
