Maria’s Awesomeness

No refashion today, sorry. I just wanted to take a quick minute to brag on one of my readers. I hope she doesn’t mind πŸ™‚

Remember this Vogue Pattern Valentine coat I made recently?

If you missed that post or just didn’t read it I’ll summarize: Bought this pattern, made the coat, hated it!

Maria, on the other hand, didn’t hate it. In fact, she kinda liked it. She liked it so much so that she asked me to send it to her. And I did!

She offered to compensate me for the coat and shipping but I HATED it and the poor craftsmanship that I put in to it SO much that I was happy to get rid of it. All I asked was that she send me a picture of herself wearing it πŸ™‚

Notice that she wore it without the left collar tucked in? I think it’s safe to say SHE wore it better!

A few weeks later I got a mysterious package in the mail with Maria’s return address on the label.

A present! (Can you tell I’m not very excited?) πŸ˜‰

This book is awesome! There are so many amazing insights into fabric manipulation I can’t even begin to explain it all. It’s definitely very advanced but I’m looking forward to broadening my horizons and putting these fun tricks to use in my future refashions.

Thank you, Maria. I’m so glad you love the coat. I know I absolutely love the book.

On a side note I have to brag on my friend Linda over at Nice Dress! Thanks, I made it!!Β She had a similar experience with one of her refashions: She absolutely hated it and sent it to me. I haven’t refashioned it yet as I’m waiting for it to get a little warmer, but I love the fabric and will post about that in the near future.

Basically, blogging is awesome πŸ™‚ Even when you may not love a creation, someone else will. I think it’s totally amazeballs that we (readers/fellow bloggers) can all kind of come together via the blogosphere and pay it forward with generous acts such as this.

Thanks for letting me brag on my girls today. Maybe you’ll be inspired to pay it forward too.

  1. I am pen pals with Maria and she told me all about sending you the book. She will be so pleased when she sees your post. She is a really lovely lady. Cheers, Michele

  2. I certainly believe that just because it doesn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else. I have given away clothes, etc. before, either to friends, my sisters, my mother, other bloggers, charity. Nothing should go to waste. And that fabric I sent you is very light and summery – wouldn’t want you to catch a cold! πŸ˜„
