Eventful Day Off Shirt

Okay, so that title is lame but it’s better than “Green Shirt Refashion” wouldn’t cha say?

Behold the “green shirt refashion”

I picked this up (for .99 cents, duh!) solely for the color πŸ™‚ I love green. It’s basically the exact same color as my eyes and I thought it would be flattering… Unfortunately the color is the only redeeming quality. I didn’t expect it to be this frumpy. That’s okay. My homemade dress form, Minnie is going to help me get the fit right.

I don’t understand tops like this. It’s super blouse-y; no shape whatsoever…but, oh, let’s put a fitted band on the hip/widest part of the female body. Smooth move, Faded Glory.

I wanted to keep the length in tact, but get rid of that stupid band. So, I seam ripped the topstitch and cut the band out from the bottom.

Then, I cut off most of the sleeve *cue gasp.

Fold, iron, pin… it’s not *super* exact but it sure is easy.

I put that under the needle, straight stitching it down. And I finished the bottom raw edge with a rolled hem.

One more touch…

Got these from Wunderlabel. A little branding never hurts…

Ta da!

I also took this in at the side seams 2 inches and put 2 darts in the back to help with the fit.

A lil messy but... oh well.
A lil messy but… oh well.

You can see my newest scars from the Arm Lift surgery I had back in September. Β I won’t be giving you all the gory details of that for a while. I WILL tell you I feel much better about wearing short sleeves now all my arm flab is gone πŸ™‚

I put on a sweater and headed to my appointment with Dr. Scott Shadfar, my nose surgeon. (2015 has been the year of surgeries for me… arms were by choice; nose was by accident).

There’s a spot on my nose that’s still a little swollen, which means I get another steroid shot.

Dr. Shadfar is moving his practice to Oklahoma, so this was our last visit together 😦 He was absolutely amazing. My nose was really in a bad way after my freak accident. My cartilage crumbled like sand in the operating room and Dr. Shadfar had to rebuild it from scratch. My previous nose was gynormous so he had enough “material” to work with without having to harvest bone from my rib or ear. I guess there are some perks to having a huge nose *wink.

I’m not a “Goodbye” person but a hug and a picture were definitely appropriate. He doesn’t just make abnormalities pretty… he saves lives. Reconstruction is a lot deeper than vanity. Check out his Portfolio and prepare to be amazed by his work.

My mom called him “Dr. Aladdin” πŸ™‚

I know this is kind of random… but I made a little collage just so you could see, close-up, how much my nose has improved.

Left, 2014; Right, 2 months post-op.

I’mΒ still healing… but in a few months I’ll give a much more detailed post of my surgery, the recovery, and pictures of my mangled nose. In the meantime, you’ll just have to wait with bated breath πŸ˜‰ (but, seriously…how much better does it look!).

Thank you, Dr. Shadfar πŸ™‚

…not to totally change the subject, but after I said “See ya later” to Dr. S., Tim and I did a bit of Christmas shopping, and then I headed off to my hair salon and got a wee bit of a makeover. Did you notice?

I went back to my dark roots

I’m quite happy with it! …and my refashion πŸ˜‰

  1. That colour looks amazing on you, and the fit is very flattering now.

And don’t you just hate when an excellent medical/dental professional moves away? I know they have lives, too, but … but … it’s stressful if you have ongoing issues and you have to find someone new – boo …

I have quite a large schnozz myself. I wore contact lenses for awhile but had too much trouble with them and had to give them up, and in a way it was a good thing because glasses help camouflage things πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, Jenny. It’s kind of amazing what a difference fit can make.

It IS so tragic when a great doctor moves away! My understanding is he’s wanting to be closer to his mother who has some health concerns at the moment. He didn’t go into details but it just makes me respect/like him even more!

I’m sure your schnozz isn’t *that* bad πŸ™‚ We’re more hard on ourselves than anything, I think. But the glasses definitely help πŸ˜‰ I’ve got some cute ones too. They’re definitely a quick fix for peeps like us.
