Okay, so that title is lame but it’s better than “Green Shirt Refashion” wouldn’t cha say?
I picked this up (for .99 cents, duh!) solely for the color 🙂 I love green. It’s basically the exact same color as my eyes and I thought it would be flattering… Unfortunately the color is the only redeeming quality. I didn’t expect it to be this frumpy. That’s okay. My homemade dress form, Minnie is going to help me get the fit right.
I don’t understand tops like this. It’s super blouse-y; no shape whatsoever…but, oh, let’s put a fitted band on the hip/widest part of the female body. Smooth move, Faded Glory.
I wanted to keep the length in tact, but get rid of that stupid band. So, I seam ripped the topstitch and cut the band out from the bottom.
Then, I cut off most of the sleeve *cue gasp.
I put that under the needle, straight stitching it down. And I finished the bottom raw edge with a rolled hem.
One more touch…
I also took this in at the side seams 2 inches and put 2 darts in the back to help with the fit.
You can see my newest scars from the Arm Lift surgery I had back in September. I won’t be giving you all the gory details of that for a while. I WILL tell you I feel much better about wearing short sleeves now all my arm flab is gone 🙂
There’s a spot on my nose that’s still a little swollen, which means I get another steroid shot.
Dr. Shadfar is moving his practice to Oklahoma, so this was our last visit together 😦 He was absolutely amazing. My nose was really in a bad way after my freak accident. My cartilage crumbled like sand in the operating room and Dr. Shadfar had to rebuild it from scratch. My previous nose was gynormous so he had enough “material” to work with without having to harvest bone from my rib or ear. I guess there are some perks to having a huge nose *wink.
I’m not a “Goodbye” person but a hug and a picture were definitely appropriate. He doesn’t just make abnormalities pretty… he saves lives. Reconstruction is a lot deeper than vanity. Check out his Portfolio and prepare to be amazed by his work.
I know this is kind of random… but I made a little collage just so you could see, close-up, how much my nose has improved.
I’m still healing… but in a few months I’ll give a much more detailed post of my surgery, the recovery, and pictures of my mangled nose. In the meantime, you’ll just have to wait with bated breath 😉 (but, seriously…how much better does it look!).
Thank you, Dr. Shadfar 🙂
…not to totally change the subject, but after I said “See ya later” to Dr. S., Tim and I did a bit of Christmas shopping, and then I headed off to my hair salon and got a wee bit of a makeover. Did you notice?
I’m quite happy with it! …and my refashion 😉
