After several an awry dye job I’ve been a little cautious with my No Sew refashions lately. But I’ve been hankering to do one so I thought I’d bite the bullet and just go for it. If it sucks, oh well, right?
I’m getting pretty bored with this sweater….
My blog photographer Nedra Hollingsworth did these awesome photos for me last fall. I sported this go-to sweater and believe me when I say, I wear it all the time! It’s popped up in several of my posts: New house blouse, my most recent St. Patty’s Day No Sew… and probably a kajillion others in addition to this awesome photo shoot.
Time for a change.
On second thought I decided to just use the Teal dye. The last time I used teal dye on a sweater it turned out amazing!
After an hour of checking and stirring I drained it, rinsed it, and hung it to dry… and I hated it! 😦
I wore it to work, in spite of this.
I did this refashion a month ago, maybe two. It was before my surgery…
There was nothing teal about this… I guess it makes sense: teal + yellow = green… I was really upset that I ruined one of my favorite sweaters. I tossed this in a pile of dirty laundry and decided I would donate it or try to sell it on consignment once it was clean.
Yesterday, I decided to give it another shot. I saw it hanging in my closet and decided to wear it one more time.
The only thing I can figure is that washing it that second time helped? I don’t know. But the green color is growing on me. Why wouldn’t it? It is my favorite 🙂
It was the perfect sweater for my grandson’s slightly chilly T-Ball game.
And he was pretty happy to see Papaw and “War-wuh.”
When the game was over, we ventured to my #3 brother’s house to see their newest batch of kittens.
Yes, I’m a cat person.
Farm life for them = new kittens twice a year… or more. But that’s just fine by me 🙂
So, I guess the moral of the refashion is this: Don’t always go buy “new” stuff when you can refashion your own clothes; First impressions aren’t always right; Wash a sweater dye job twice 🙂
So that’s, like, 3 morals.
Looks like I’m gonna have to call Nedra for another photo shoot! 🙂
