I found this at a garage sale last summer for .50 cents. I liked the Bandana-ish print and figured I could make a cute top or sundress out of it.
I put it on Minnie with the side zipper in the front. I like zipper front closers… I “De-pants” this with a few darts.
To turn these size 16 capris into a top, I had to really reshape them… then, I decided I wanted straps.
I pinned this down and sewed it. And because my “straps” were actually a banded lining in the capris, I had to fold them in half and stitch it down. If not, the exposed white banded stabilizer/interfacing is what would show when wearing this new shirt properly.
I cut some length off the bottom, opting for a tunic. I finished the edge with a rolled hem on my serger.
Not bad. It’s definitely “Memorial Day Cookout” appropriate 🙂
It’d be rude of me not to sample all the food…
Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day.
