We celebrated my Mother-In-law’s birthday this weekend. I didn’t want to wear just a shirt and jeans. Birthdays are special and should be a big deal! I decided to spice things up a bit with this:
I purchased this a week or so ago (for .99 cents!) with the intention of making yet another blouse but I decided, what the heck? Let’s make a sun dress.
This is the easiest way to refashion an old lady dress. Seriously 🙂 After you cut off the sleeves and neckline, fold the raw edge under twice. Pin, and sew.
I used to be scared of elastic but it’s basically my best [sewing] friend, now. I don’t know what I’d do without it.
Sew down the end of the elastic
“Clean up” the hem in your material you left exposed for the elastic to fit through… and you’re done.
This thing was crazy see-through, like, it would make the models in Victoria’s Secret catalog blush. Hence, the leggins. I don’t do slips! 😉
Before you label me all white trashy because my undergarments are exposed right now… I DID wear this with a shrug, thank you very much 🙂
I’m going against the advise of my PT by wearing flip flops. I just couldn’t seem to make orthopedic shoes and inserts “work” with this ensemble. The flip flops had a wedge so I figured that was better than nothing, right?
We feasted and dined (which is kind of redundant)…
…and surprised Momma H with a limo ride 🙂
