I like to be seasonally appropriate with my clothing (Who doesn’t?). The closer we got to Mother’s Day, the more of a “pastel” kind of mood I found myself in… which is probably why I gravitated toward this
I realize today IS Mother’s Day; however, my little blog is on a one day “delay” in postings. Here’s a close up of that print
I got to work by chopping off the sleeves (I really didn’t know what to do with them, so bye-bye they went) and the collar. I wanted to turn the neckline into a more flattering “V”.
I did actually seam rip them out. It takes more time but the raw edges they left behind (in the original garment) are easier to sew back up when you rip instead of cut… it just is.
So I polished up the raw hems, left behind from the ripping, in the armholes. I also took the sides in a few inches and ran those under my serger.
And I sewed down the remnants of the collar to make it a V neck
Every Saturday is a 12 hour day for me: I go into Job #1 from 9:30-5 then go into Job #2 5:30- 9:15ish. As such… coffee is SUPER important to me on Saturday, especially. I don’t know why, but even when I leave the house 20 minutes early, I STILL seem to catch McDonald’s at the busiest time of the day. It’s SO frustrating. Like, seriously. Everybody in the state of Indiana decides to get coffee and beat me in line. Any other day of the week, I get right in line. Murphy’s law.
Royally ticked off, I get out of line without my coffee and head to work. A few minutes later my friend Billie calls me and asks me for my order (she was 3 cars behind me). She brought me my order to work 10 minutes later 🙂
Ignore the blurriness. She’s quite lovely! She brought me coffee, a McMuffin, AND some homemade chicken salad for lunch 🙂
When she moved to Texas I stayed with her over a holiday weekend and she made chicken salad. I LOVED it… and I don’t even like chicken salad, y’all! I didn’t want to be a rude house guest so I ate it and now it’s my new favorite. I only eat hers, though, cause I still don’t like chicken salad 🙂 I beg her to make it for me every once in a while and today she surprised me. Whoa.
She’s seriously the best
Billie and I have known each other forever! We’ve gone to the same church for years, went to the same college, moved to Orlando, FL after college to work at Disney together… now we’re both back in Indiana… and still best of friends. I love her.
Now that she’s brought me my coffee I can get through my 12 hour day much better!
My white sweater is also a refashion I did a while ago… I wear this one quite a bit too. Yah for coffee and great friends and making it to day 11! 🙂
11 down, 20 to go
