I love New Year’s Eve/Day. I always have. I’m not exactly sure why because I despise winter. For us Indiana folk January & February (and most of March… and sometimes April) are absolutely miserable, weather wise.
Minus Indiana’s PMSing winter shenanigans, I like it because it’s a fresh start. No looking back. You didn’t get it right last time but you can now… ya know? It’s like that ho bag from Forrest Gump said:
Yeah, that’s good stuff.
I’m an eternal optimist, I suppose. As such I’ve set a few goals for 2014. I’ve set personal goals as well as goals for this blog. I’ll spare you the personal goals 😉 but I’m really excited about my plans for this blog!
In 2014 I will not buy even one NEW article of clothing for myself!
That’s right. I’m stickin’ it to the proverbial “man”! I’m not buying new clothing at all in 2014 for the following reasons:
1.) I’m tired of spending, what I consider, “good” money on brand new clothes that fall apart after a few wears. Hubs and I splurged a little on our anniversary trip in November and bought some awesome clothes from a few of our favorite retailers… 6 weeks later, I’m embarrassed to wear them. The sweaters are pilling to oblivion; the colors are faded and we delicate wash all that stuff in cold water and let it air dry… NO more!!!
2.) I’m poor. Actually, between my three jobs (yes, three) and plasma donations, I make quite a bit of money; however, after it’s spent on our bills and “Life’s a B!tch” moments that seem to hit us in waves… we have NO wiggle room. I’m not saying that to get sympathy… That’s just the way it is for us right now…
3.) I want to be a better seamstress 🙂 I’m okay… but I’m not great, hence, the “accidental” bit. Practice makes perfect and this will definitely give me practice!
4.) This blog needs some pizazz! No, but really. I’ve loved blogging about my projects but it’s time to kick it up a notch! Plus, Santa brought me a new camera!!!! This bad boy takes crazy wicked pictures! 🙂 “Accidental Seamstress” is going pro, folks! … well, at least in my mind.
.99 cents on all my clothing for a year.
I hope you and yours had a great holiday season. The best is yet to come and 2014 is going to be awesome. Happy New Year!
