I saw this dress for .99 cents at Goodwill and I HAD to have it!!!
First, I had to make some cuts…
Then, I began to seam rip the crap out of this thing! That fabric is glorious. With all the pleats taken out and ironed, I knew that I would have a lot of fabric to make just about anything… a kimono, perhaps? 🙂 I have to admit I was inspired by this blog. Check it out. Believe it or not, I didn’t have quite as much fabric as the tutorial calls for, so I just had to make-do with what I had
The other 2 panels would make up my sleeves.
Must finish those raw edges
I decided to pick up on the minty-turquoisy color with some fun blue thread
The end result was quite fetching too, I thought.
So worth it for better pictures, though
I look almost as good as the fabulous Leanne from the original tutorial 😉
After work at Job #2 my bestie Vicky and I just HAD to get some Pumpkin Soft Serve from a great local place
I loved the original dress for the amazingly awesome peach fabric. The turquoise and navy accents really set it apart from boring fabric store bolts (no offense). But, seriously, could this kimono have any more personality?! I think not. I love it! And, it only cost me .99 cents 🙂
This after shot is by the amazing Nedra Hollingsworth. Several weeks after I had originally posted this refashion, Nedra and I had an epic photo shoot featuring my favorite refashions. This Peach Kimono is still one of my all time favorites. In fact, this one of the refashions I used as my audition to get in Refashion Runway Season 3.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from that shoot in 2014.
