Green is my favorite color! I don’t discriminate on shade, hue, undertone, or even if it’s paired with another green or non-green color… if it’s green, it’s my favorite. When I saw this fabulous muumuu for .99 cents at Goodwill, I snatched it right up and performed a happy dance to my fellow (and somewhat apathetic) shopping buddies that day 🙂
First… I washed it, of course! But then, I cut off the sleeves. Lately my relationship with my seam ripper has turned into an awkward “Frenemy” situation, so I just CUT them off. Eh. Then, I put this on my dress form, Minnie. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE Minnie? She makes refashioning and, hence, life SO much easier!
After I did that, I didn’t even need to finish the bottom hem because it was already finished! I took it home to model it for Hubs… and he didn’t like it as a Maxi dress 😦 I’m not going to go into a big schpeel about how women everywhere LOVE Maxi dresses because they’re dressy yet casual; comfortable; you don’t have to shave your legs; cool in the summer, warm in the winter with proper layering… No, I won’t do that. I’ll just say that it’s important to keep Hubs happy, so I chopped much off the bottom, and then hemmed it.
I actually wish I’d taken a little bit more off the bottom (and the sides). Oh well, that’s what accessories are for!
Now, the look feels more complete… and work appropriate!
Let’s take a closer look at that neckline with the embroidered detail
My camera has been weird, lately. That might be due to the fact it’s an Olympus (strike 1!) from 2007 (strike 2!). I’ve been having many a camera malfunction recently! The biggest one in THIS project was that I LOST my “During” pics 😦 If Minnie were my camera this wouldn’t have happened! Since nothing’s been working right on that thing, I decided to omit the “Before and After” shot on this…
Despite the fact it’s not a Maxi, it’s still green and pretty awesome in my book. I like it! And, minus the setbacks with my camera, and husband, it was a really easy refashion. 🙂
